First night of freedom.

Made dinner and did the dishes.

Knitted maybe 10 rows.

Watched tele.

Helped Juls study for her test.

Played on the Internet.

Thought about: what do I want my life to look like now? (I'm becoming a Planner!)

Check these out, these are gorgeous: here.

Hat tip: here.

"I'm becoming a planner" - really?? how exciting!! the world certainly needs more planners... what's your particular interest? ecology? urban design? political process? roading and infrastructure? industrial development?

yes really! Kind of fell into it sideways. LOVE it to death. Guess my area is urban design. Starting with RM consents but would like to work up to policy. Plus would like to do some rural stuff.

LOOONG term want to do planning in developing country context. Very exciting. Seems like the idea mix of my interests at this stage.

and you have a consents job already? christchurch city? urban design is my main interest at the moment too, and the interface of UD with community development. Really grates me when I see design that is ugly and/or that inhibits communal enjoyment and interaction in urban areas...

Have you heard of this book:

I have a copy, only read a couple of chapters, need to pick back up again... content is brilliant so far...

Yep, got the first job I applied for, they're DESPERATE down here! I'm totally loving it, got my first consents yesterday.

I agree re ugly or poor design. Did you happen to see 11th hour? Lots of planning stuff in there I think, although coded a bit differently. I enjoyed it.

I've not heard of the book, I'll definitely look it up.
